Teach and Learn in Korea (TaLK) Info Session

UK's Office of International Affairs is hosting an information session on the Teach and Learn in Korea (TaLK) program on Friday September 21 at 2:00 p.m. in 207 Bradley Hall.





The TaLK program is designed to support public English education in the rural areas of South Korea, where the access to higher quality educational resources are limited. Participants must be a graduate or a current undergraduate student with two or more years of academic credits from an accredited post-secondary institution, and hold citizenship from one of the seven major English-speaking countries: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.  The TaLK program offers six-month or one-year commitments.

Info Session on A&S's Cape Town Internship

On  Monday, September 17 at 3:30 p.m. in 203 of the Student Center, Education Abroad will be holding an information session on the A&S sponsored Cape Town, South Africa summer internship program.  

Mr. James Sleight, on-site director for the program, will be available to answer questions and describe the range of placement opportunities.  

Internship placements for this program focus on human rights and the environment.  The range of opportunities include:

• Work with disadvantaged school children for environmental education & self-esteem building
• Work on media campaigns around human rights issues
• Support offices that offer free advice & paralegal support to socially disadvantaged people
• Work with advocacy organizations for children’s rights and welfare
• Help various organizations communicate their campaign through websites and social media
• Work with organizations who support women & children who are victims of domestic violence 

Upon completion of the internship, students may earn seven 300+ credit hours.

EA Scholarship Workshop in The HUB

In collaboration with the UK Writing Center & the Office of External Scholarships, Education Abroad at UK will be hosting a Scholarship Workshop on Tuesday September 18, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. in The HUB of William T. Young Library.

This event is an opportunity for students to receive one-on-one scholarship advising and is open to all students interested in education abroad funding opportunities.  Students are encouraged to bring personal statement drafts and/or education abroad scholarship applications.

Education Abroad Fair




This Wednesday, from 10:30 to 3:00,  Education Abroad at UK will be hosting an Education Abroad Fair in the Student Center Grand Ballroom.  All UK students, faculty & staff are welcome to come learn about international opportunities, goof off in Education Abroad's photo corner, and get free swag!!

Throughout the day on Wednesday, Education Abroad will be holding break-out information sessions in room 359 of the Student Center:
  • EA Scholarship Info Session @ 12:15
  • Research Abroad Info Session @ 1:15
  • First Step Info Session @ 2:15

CHINA Info Session for Students, Faculty & Staff

Wednesday, September 5 at 4:00 p.m. in 207 Bradley Hall:

Michael Nelson from UK Education Abroad Partner CET Academic Programs will be presenting
along with Advisors from the Education Abroad Office, regarding UK student possibilities
throughout China for both summer and semester terms.

The options include Intensive Chinese Language Programs in Harbin and Beijing, Service
Learning and Internship options in Beijing and Shaghai, and other UK opportunities throughout
China. Michael will also offer information on scholarships available to UK students to study
abroad.
