On Thursday, November 15 at 5:00 p.m. in room N-10 of the Ag Sciences Building, Education Abroad will be hosting an information session on the UK Sponsored "Tropical Agroecology & Sustainable Development in Indonesia" program.

This program will be led by Dr. Krista Jacobsen, faculty member in the College of Agriculture (Sustainable Agriculture & Horticulture) at University of Kentucky.  During the info session, Dr. Jacobsen and Education Abroad Advisor, Summer Eglinski, will discuss program details, application processes, and scholarship opportunities.

Traveling through three study regions in Sumatra, Java, and Bali, students will learn about agriculture, culture and geography of Indonesia. Course activities will introduce students to ecological field methods to measure biodiversity and ecosystem functions, social science methods including interviews and asset-based mapping, and critical reflection activities focused on holistic analysis of agricultural sustainability. Particular emphasis will be placed on agroforestry, organic vegetables, rice, as well as alternative and traditional agricultural production systems.
